Sharp rise in volunteers for dementia research

dementia volunteer riseCHICAGO: Numbers of people volunteering to take part in research studies into dementia have risen sharply in the past year.

New figures from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) showed there were almost 22,000 people who took part in this area of research into tackling the condition in the past year – a 60% rise on the previous year.

The NIHR said the increased participation in 100 ground breaking dementia research projects across the UK would give scientists a huge advantage in finding new treatments to prevent, treat and eventually cure the illness.
