CHICAGO: A survey released yesterday showed that nearly one-third of the population have never heard of trans-unsaturated fatty acids, despite a 2008 government policy requiring manufacturers of packaged foods to list the amount of trans fat contained in their products.
In addition, the survey indicated 65.8 percent of respondents were unaware that the labelling of trans fat in food products was compulsory, with 54.1 percent saying they had never checked for the content of the fat in foods they bought…
