Seniors housing developers compete for Global Award

NEW YORK: The six hundred and second entry for the seniors housing Global Awards for 2015 has been received.

Gorman & Company has proposed a third project in the city repurposing and redeveloping the former Garfield Elementary School site at 1518 25th Ave.

On Tuesday, Andre’ Blakley, the company’s Illinois market president, gave Moline aldermen an overview of the project designed to create affordable housing for seniors.

The $11.5 million project would create 57 apartments using the former school, the annex connected to the building and the construction of an addition.
