Age care compounds becoming soft crime targets

ATLANTA: Retirement communities and rest homes imply a level of elevated safety in their commercial pitch to prospective customers.

But evidence is mounting that age-apartheid compounds are increasingly becoming soft crime targets and the care sector is trashing its reputation by doing nothing to effectively counter the growing threat:

149. A man accused of stalking and tricking elderly victims into giving him money has been found guilty.

Two elderly victims told the court that he had, on separate occasions last year, followed them out of the skilled nursing home car park. He had told the drivers, aged 88 and 82 at the time, they had hit his car and demanded they pay for the damages.
