Seniors housing developers compete for Global Award

NEW YORK: The five hundred and sixth entry for the seniors housing Global Awards for 2015 has been received.

Walnut Creek, a city with one of the highest concentrations of residents over 65 in the Bay Area, is one step closer to getting a market-rate, 193-unit senior living center.

Northern California Presbyterian Homes & Services (NCPHS), a nonprofit senior housing operator, has acquired a parcel at the corner of North Via Monte and Shadelands Drive in Walnut Creek for $11.2 million. The project is part of a larger retail complex called the Orchards, with 192,000 square feet of retail anchored by a Safeway.
